Access for UN staff only

On 3 April 2013, UNIFIL hosted an "Umoja Open Day" for colleagues from United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) and the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator (UNSCOL) in Lebanon. This was an opportunity for all UNIFIL / UNSCOL personnel to learn more about the Umoja solution in preparation for the Pilot deployment in UNIFIL and UNSCOL on 1 July 2013.

The event was organized in the format of an exhibition with stands and participants progressing from one to the next in a logical sequence. Topics that were covered included: Introduction to Umoja, Budget Entry, Requisitioning, Procurement, Receipt and Inspection, Real Estate and Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable (AP/AR).

Each stand included a brief presentation focusing on the major changes that Umoja will bring to UNIFIL / UNSCOL.

In addition to receiving a brief presentation on the above topics, around 200 staff members had the opportunity to view Umoja system demonstrations and were provided with supporting information packets. This was also a good opportunity to engage with the UNIFIL UNIFIL site coordinator and deployment team first hand to ask questions about the solution.

UNIFIL has kindly made the information packets available to all Peacekeeping Missions (using the UN network) hosted on their Unishare portal at

On the whole, judging by the very constructive feedback received from the participants, the UNIFIL Umoja Team will be organizing other similar events in the near future!
